A canceled wreck dive became a wonderful spring dive
Hard to belive that the dive club's boat wasn't smack full on a day like this. But wreck diving isn't popular here for some reason and the planned dive was canceled.
But a long solo dive to check out the equipment is a good substitute.
Only a few days ago there were no jellyfish but today there were plenty, both blue and red.
I quickly made it down to the sandy/muddy bottom at around 14-16 meters to see if the ocean had some goodies for me today.
The first I came across were these startfish devouring a crab.
Next I came across this beautiful turbot. It's been a long time since I saw one last.
Another dead crab being devoured. I haven't seen a live crab yet this year, but I'm sure they are around. By the way, check out those alien-like tentacles. I saw plenty of those this dive.
Oh! Here's a living crab. Can you spot it?
And then we have the hermit crabs. Plenty of those but this one was dragging another around. Haven't seen that before!
Came across this plaice hiding behind a rock.
Suddenly something caught my eye... a spiral! I didn't see any nudibranchs but at least there will soon be more of them.
Just before I was to leave the deeper sandy part, there it was! The first live crab, ready to fight!
