Tussan Practice Dive

Checking out new configuration before trip

I've been diving sidemount exclusively for the last couple of years, and although boat diving works fine there's no doubt that backmount is easier on small boats when the seas are rough.

With a wreck diving trip to Åland coming up in less than two weeks I'm testing a nimble backmount configuration to go with the Triton CCR.

It's a configuration with double 7 liter cylinders and drysuit gas cylinder mounted to them. Apart from that I'm using the same harness as my sidemount configuration so everything is familiar.

The shallow depths were really beautiful today.

I felt just like these bubble algae in my first attempt with the new configuration. I had too little weight to stay down.
But that's what I was here to figure out. After putting on two more weights I was able to stay down.

I made it down to the sandy part at 12-14 meters depth. Not much life to be found here yet, except for starfish.

On the way back up the shallow parts I found this relative to the sea horse hiding in the algae.

Overall I felt happy with the configuration and for the next dive I'll add the rebreather and deco cylinder.
